One of the joys of designing is the making of samples before you turn them into something seriously useable. You must measure, calculate and do your maths before you can actually start knitting up the design you have made. What is left are the small squares or rectangles. I can’t help it, but afterwards I always look at them and start imagining what to make of them. Some wrist warmers? A patchwork blanket? No matter, they are truly beautiful and have already been useful in itself. So yes, sometimes they become something else, not always.
